Rice, Biryani, Bread & Sweets
We Indian eat our delicious vegetarian or non-vegetarian curries with equally tasty breads or rice preparation.
Our breads are flat in shape and are divided into: - Plain bread: Called as chapatti, roti Baked in the oven bread: called as Tandoori roti Leavened bread with eggs etc: Called as Tandoori Nan Bread made with butter: Called as paratha
We can stuff our parathas to get many different tasty parathas such as:-
- Potato paratha
- Methi paratha( Mix vegetable with flour)
- Muli paraths(horse raddish)
Deep fried breads: Called as Puree, or poori e.g plain unleavened puree and leavened Bhatura puree Our Rice preparations are also varied and these are:-
- Plain boiled rice
- Pillaos: Simple pillao (pilaf) of many types e,g cumin rice pillao, peas pillao, mixed vegetable pillao ,chicken/lamb/fish pillaos etc
- Sophisticated Biryani: such as Moglai chicken/lamb/fish biryani cooked with cream, fruits and nuts and flavouring of essence.

We Indians are very fond of our sweetmeats although to make such sweetmeats at home require skill and a lot of experience. In this book I had given only some easy to make sweetmeats as shown in the photograph showing Bombay halve made with corn flour and sugar. |
